The Unlikely Neighbor
Like most Jewish rabbis, our Lord Jesus generally answered questions with questions of his own. By asking questions, he turned the occasional tests into conversations. But Jesus goes a step further while telling his story about the good Samaritan, completely changing the lawyer’s questions and connecting them directly to God’s timeless commands.
Please read the very familiar story in Luke 10:25-37 this week. Read it a couple of times. Then join us at 10:15 this Sunday morning April 12 as we launch into a new sermon series called “Stories Along the Way.”
When we understand Christian love as a verb, not a noun, it ends all debate. Suddenly, it’s not about defining who we’re supposed to love; it’s simply about loving. It’s not a question to be argued; it’s a command to be obeyed. It’s not a theory to be discussed; it’s a truth to be lived.
