With One Heart
“Each of us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. For even Christ did not please himself.” ~Romans 15:2-3
As children of God and followers of his Christ, the GCR church family takes its example and its inspiration from Jesus. We realize that Christ Jesus never once did anything to please himself. Instead, he gave up everything, he sacrificed everything, to benefit and build up others. And by choosing to serve others instead of pleasing himself, Jesus sets the pattern which we must accept as our own.
This mindset, this attitude of bearing “with the failings of the weak” and pleasing our “neighbor for his good” and accepting one another won’t result in a perfect church family. It won’t eliminate our differences of opinion; it won’t do away with all arguments and debate. But we know the Lord who unites us is greater by far than the differences which may divide us. And our grace-filled conversations and mercy-full interactions with one another will reflect that conviction.
Please read Romans 14:1-15:13 this week. Then join us at 10:15 this Sunday morning November 16 as we consider together our God-ordained unity in the Spirit.
“…so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” ~Romans 15:6
