The Promise and the Hope

The promise throughout the Bible is that God is going to make his dwelling with us. God is going to live with us, he’s going to walk among us, and he’ll be our God and we’ll be his people. All the things that separate us from God are going to be destroyed. Everything that’s broken will be fixed and everything that’s wrong is going to be made right. And we’ll live together in the presence of our Lord forever.

Of course, that’s also the hope. But the hope we have comes in the person of Jesus who, as God, did come here to live with us in the flesh. He died and was resurrected to make the promise come true. What God is doing for our glorious future is directly linked to what he did then and what he’s doing now through Christ. And God, through Christ, gives us a vision, a picture of the proof at the end of Revelation. He reveals what it’s going to look like. He describes it to us and shows us the promise as it’s coming true.

Please read Revelation 21:1-7 a couple of times this week. Then join us at 10:15 this Sunday morning December 28 as we consider the eternal promise and the glorious hope of this GCR Core Scripture.
