Being Changed by God to Love Like Jesus

This Sunday we’re beginning an important sermon series to review our church vision: “Being Changed by God to Love Like Jesus.” We’re going to remember together what we believe God is doing in us and through us at GCR. The series is structured around our spiritual formation zones and will encourage all of us in our practices and habits.

January 4 “Being Changed by Knowledge”
January 11 “Being Changed in Community”
January 18 “Being Changed with Christian Practices”
January 25 “Being Changed on Mission”
February 1 “Being Changed through Pivotal Circumstances”

Let’s remember this week that knowledge about God is never just for the sake of information. Knowledge is intended to change us, to transform who we are. According to the Bible, knowledge is to understand and grasp what God is doing in the world through Christ, and then to act on it, to join it, to live into it. Over time, our knowledge of God should lead to lives of virtue or Christ-likeness in which we think godly thoughts and do godly things by second nature.

Please read Colossians 1:9-10, 1:25-2:3 this week. Then join us at 10:15 this Sunday morning January 4 as we consider together our twin values of formation and ministry and how we are shaped by our increasing knowledge of God.
