Experiencing the Gospel

The Lord’s Supper is a thanksgiving meal; the Greek word eucharist means thanksgiving. So why is that time during church typically marked by reflection on sin and death?

Around the table we are communing with God and with each other. We are experiencing everything that was accomplished for us in the death and resurrection of Jesus: forgiveness, acceptance, unity, approval, fellowship, community. So why do we mostly keep our eyes closed during the meal and hesitate to acknowledge anyone around us?

Please read 1 Corinthians 11:17-33. Then join us at 10:15 this Sunday morning May 5 as we consider together the form of the Lord’s Meal and how it functions as a sacrament of God’s grace.
