So much of our ministry occurs during the school calendar year, so this is the perfect time to get together before summer starts.

A Breakthrough Retreat is a 24-hour getaway with 20-24 GCR members to experience a breakthrough to transformation and mission. You will be introduced to several traditional spiritual disciplines that will equip you to more creatively and effectively engage God through Word and Prayer. We’ll pray Scripture, explore ancient prayers, dwell in the Word, read with our senses, and reflect theologically in meaningful conversation.
The cost is $15 per person and includes overnight accommodations at The Way Retreat Center in Midland, three meals, and all the materials.

Our next R.E.A.L.(Relationships, Encouragement, Authenticity, Love) night is Thursday, April 4, at 7 PM at the home of Donna McGraw. Carolyn Arnold will be sharing her story. These are great nights to connect with other women at GCR and be encouraged by a testimony of God’s faithfulness.
Join us for a deeply meaningful Maundy Thursday service as we reflect on the events leading up to Jesus' crucifixion and commemorate the Last Supper. As we gather to commemorate this important day in the Christian calendar, we will come together with other Christians in our community in prayer, reflection, and unity.
Op Tribe is having a family night on March 26 from 6:30-8:00 at GCR for their families and prospective Op Camp campers. We need help with greeting, food service, and clean up. This is a great way to serve OP Tribe and be an ambassador for GCR.
Everyone is invited to the next teacher breakfast/training on Saturday, March 2, in room 100 from 7:30-11:30 AM. Rick Atchley, Senior Minister at The Hills Church in North Richland Hills, has written our curriculum, "The Way of King Jesus: Living the Sermon on the Mount.” He will be here to review the material with our teachers, class leaders, and anyone interested in getting a glimpse into our curriculum.
Rick Archly will also teach the first lesson in a combined adult Bible class and preach on Sunday, March 3.

Requirements:
Valid US passport with at least six months of validity on departure date. Open to all ages 16 years and older. Minors need to be accompanied by at least one parent. A visa to enter Kenya is required, but easy to obtain. Some vaccinations are recommended by the CDC, but none are required to fly. Anti-malaria medicine is required for this trip. We will give you recommendations, but you will have to get the meds from your doctor.
Costs:
Total trip cost is approx. $4,000 per person. GCR’s Breakthrough fund will cover $2,000 per person. Each person will need spending money for meals while traveling through the airports, and for souvenirs. Hotels, meals and transportation in Kenya will be included. Each person will need to pay the visa fee, which is $52.
A $500 deposit is required by March 24. We will have two pre-trip meetings prior to our trip and the first will be on March 24, so if you are unsure you can attend that meeting before you commit. Final payments will need to be made before May 17th.
Preliminary Schedule:
Departing on the 18th, we will arrive in Nairobi on the evening of the 19th. We will see three of KWO’s children’s homes on the 20th – 22nd, then spend three days at the Vocational Training Center and see one more children’s home while we are there. We will drive back to Nairobi on the 26th and sleep there. Then we will do some sight-seeing and shopping on the 27th prior to our evening departure. We will arrive back in Midland late afternoon on the 28th.
What we will be doing:
The primary purposes of this trip are to 1.) show our Kenyan brothers and sisters how much we love them and 2.) learn about African culture and the plight of the rural poor in Africa.
To Americans accustomed to building something or helping in a VBS on a typical mission trip, this will be different. Africans place a very high value on personal visits. The act of traveling there just to spend a few hours with them will mean a lot and have lasting effects on these kids and our widows who care for them. If you have particular skills in teaching a trade or cooking or sewing, you will have an opportunity to do that at the Vocational Training Center, where our kids who have completed high school are learning a trade prior to leaving our program. If you are willing to just spend time with our students who are about to start their new lives as adults, the impact on them could be life-changing.

We didn’t want the Valentine’s season to pass by without celebrating love with the GCR Sisterhood, our GALentines! Join us for an evening of fellowship, sisterhood, and light snacks. On Friday, February 16 at 7:00, we’ll meet in room 100 for what will be a great time together.

Join us for a community Ash Wednesday service with our brothers and sisters from First Baptist, First Presbyterian, and First Methodist at 6:30 pm on February 14 here at GCR. We’ll gather together in unity, worship, receive ashes on our foreheads, and mark the beginning of the season of Lent and our journey to Easter Sunday. Together, we’ll reflect, repent, and renew our spirits.

It is time for our fourth annual GCR chili cook-off!
We are calling everyone, adults, teens, groups, and kids, to bring their best chili. We will enjoy a time of eating and fellowship together while judges taste each chili, and awards will be given to the best chili!
Mission Agape is hosting a Christmas store for our community members who need extra help this Christmas season on December 16 in the GCR gym. We expect to hit a record-high number of kids to bless this Christmas! Sign up below if you can volunteer to help families shop during the event.
The GCR|Kids are hunting for The Best Christmas Song Ever. Come join them as they search, sing, and share the story of Christmas with us!
We will rehearse on Wednesday nights from 6:30-7:30 beginning Nov. 1.
All GCR women are invited to It’s a Tacky Christmas on Sunday, December 3, at the home of DeAnn McGraw from 6:00-8:00. You’re encouraged to wear your tackiest Christmas attire and bring with you one tacky decorative item to add to your table’s decor. We will enjoy food and desserts catered by Julie Whiteside and fellowship with each other.
Please register so we have plenty of food for everyone. We also ask for a suggested donation of $5 at the event to help us cover costs.
Calling all moms and daughters to join us for a time of cookies, painting canvases, and Christmas joy! Mother and daughter team, Hayley and Finley Geer will guide us in a festive painting while we eat cookies and spend quality time together.
This event is for 3-year olds-12th graders and their moms and will be from 10:00-11:30 in the GCR gym.

KWO Ministries is proud to welcome you to one of the premier running events in the Permian Basin. Over the last nine years, Kick for Kenya has become one of the largest and longest-running charity races in the area, featuring a 10K-5K-1K format.

Our Kid's ministry is growing! We have more and more kids coming to our classes and programs, and we need volunteers. We are asking all our former, current, and future volunteers to come to lunch to hear about all the opportunities to serve the next generation in GCR|Kids. Whether you volunteer currently, have not in a while, or are new to volunteering, we want you at this lunch.

Sometimes drop-offs in the morning can be a tough time for kids. Let's change that! GCR is starting Fist Bump Crew. We'll show up in the mornings and turn drop-off into a fun time of welcoming the students to school with encouragement and a fist bump. We want to make drop-off fun while making connections with students and staff at Emerson.

Join the whole church family on August 9 from 6:00-7:30 pm in the Gathering Space for a potluck to celebrate the start of a new school year. We want to encourage all our small group leaders to attend a Small Group Leaders Gathering Sunday, August 6th, at 11:30 am. We will meet immediately following our worship service for lunch, encouragement, and training. Let us know if you’re coming and if you need childcare.
Mission Agape’s School supply distribution event is being held at GCR this year and we’d love for you to come help students in Midland fill their backpacks with school supplies. If you've never had a chance to participate in this fun event, please accept our invitation this year and come serve! Seeing so many children stuff their backpacks full of supplies is such a blessing for us!
