“The Essence of Marriage”
“If we really love each other, why do we need a piece of paper?”
“Getting married only complicates things and ruins good loving relationships!”
“We don’t need a license to prove we love each other!”
When you are really in love everybody knows it. Everybody. Sometimes it’s downright sickening when two people are madly in love. The question is not do you love this person today, right now? That’s obvious. The question is, do you love this person enough to promise to always love him or her into the future? Do you love each other enough to make vows to keep loving each other no matter what?
If God’s plan for marriage is for a man and a woman to reflect the love God has for his people, then it must be viewed as a covenant. The same love and faithfulness that Christ shows for his Church must be evident in a marriage for it to meet God’s approval.
