Marriage Matters: The Purpose of Marriage

This is where the brutal reality meets the glorious vision. The reality and glory of Christian marriage collide in the middle of our Ephesians 5:21-33 passage and right here in the middle of our marriage series.

“…to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the Word, and to present her to himself as a radiant Church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.”
Ephesians 5:26-27

If you don’t see your spouse’s deep flaws and weaknesses and sins, you’re not paying attention. Those sins are real. But if you’re not excited about the person your spouse is becoming, if you’re not committed to the spiritual transformation that God is doing in your mate, you’re not tapping into the purpose of your marriage. The goal is to see something glorious in your spouse that God is doing and to work together to help your spouse become that ultimately holy and blameless person God wants him or her to be.

Please read Ephesians 5:21-33. Again. Concentrate on those middle verses that describe the purpose of marriage. And then join us at 10:15 this Sunday morning, September 6, as we consider together the glory of what God is doing in our marriages.
