Marriage Matters: Singleness and Marriage
“I am saying this for your own good, not to restrict you, but that you may live in a right way in undivided devotion to the Lord.” ~1 Corinthians 7:35
The Church has unwittingly marginalized un-married men and women in the Kingdom of God. We don’t mean to; it’s not anyone’s intention to make single people feel like less than whole Christians. But let’s acknowledge that we put a lot of time and energy into developing programs for our married people and our families, but our singles have to sometimes fend for themselves.
Please read 1 Corinthians 7:29-35 and then join us at 10:15 this Sunday morning, September 20, as we explore together what the Scriptures really say about being single. You might be surprised to learn that the New Testament characterizes the single life as the preferable way to live as a disciple of Jesus.
Marriage is not the end-all, be-all, everything for all people that we’ve sometimes made it out to be. Let’s take a healthy look at singleness this Sunday.
